TACN Rescue Centre is located in Tongzhou district in Beijing, founded in 2009 by TACN Regional Director Xiaoli.
TACN’s work at this rescue centre mainly focuses on:
- Provide training services to the general public with first-hand animal rescue knowledge and practical guidance;
- Working with local authorities to raise awareness for animal welfare, rescue and care for stray animals;
- Working alongside many other local animal welfare groups and activists to help stray dogs and cats, including housing the rescued animals;
- Setting a successful example to the animal rescue centres and shelters across China regarding shelter management and animal welfare;
- Creating opportunities for the general public to visit and volunteer at the rescue centre in order to learn about animal behaviour and welfare through well constructed programs and projects, all supported by many local authorities.
TACN Beijing Rescue Centre is continually fighting through the difficulties of running an animal rescue centre in the capital of China and is helping countless animals by collaborating with local rescue groups and individual rescuers. To date, TACN Beijing Rescue Centre has re-homed 17 animals.
Two permanent staff are working at TACN Beijing Rescue Centre looking after the resident animals and providing them with their daily essentials and care. They are also responsible for the maintenance of the centre. With a current small maximum capacity of only 30 dogs and 20 cats, the rescue centre values donations, which are needed for the construction of more animal accommodation leading to potential expansion of the centre. Such donations will help the centre to meet the growing number of newly rescued animals and will assist in the care and shelter for these animals.
In 2014, we have plans to improve to the rescue centre further with the hope of providing the resident animals with an even better living environment, helping them to get more healthy and active. As half of the animals at TACN Rescue Centre are senior or physically disabled dogs and cats the chances for them to find new forever homes are not looking good. These senior and physically disabled animals are more likely to spend more time or their whole life at the centre, therefore improvements to their living environment would be absolutely necessary.
You can find out more about our plans for improvement and contribute towards making them a reality. Or, you can make a general donation to TACN Beijing Rescue Centre and all the animals we care for.
